The Apostolic Carmel Congregation was founded by Mother Veronica at Bayonne in 1868, and established at Mangalore, India, in 1870, by Bishop Marie Ephrem OCD. Rooted in the contemplative spirit of Carmel, and nourished by its life of prayer and missionary zeal, the Apostolic Carmel expresses the vitality of the Church through its fruitfulness in the active apostolate of education and other works of mercy. Apostolic Carmel sisters established their first convent in 1968. They are involved in Social, Pastoral and Educational ministries.

The Religious Congregation "The Daughter of St. Anne" had its origin in the sacred soil of Chotanagpur. It was erected at Ranchi on July 26th 1897 by Archbishop Paul Goethals in answer to the situation and needs of the contemporary local church. Mata Bernadatte is a foundress and Cecilia, daughters of Puran Prasad, Mary, daughter of Prabhu Prasad and Veronica, daughter of widow Mokta, were the co-founders of the Congregation. The Daughters of St. Anne then joyfully give their co –operation to those ecclesial works in which our Mother the Church has to face great difficulties in order to bring forth and to bring up her sons and daughters. The Daughters of St. Anne rejoice in doing this difficult kind of work, because through it the Church’s children continue to increase in number and quality. Daughters of St. Anne sisters are the pioneers of this mission in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. They are into Pastoral, Social, Education and Medical ministry. They run hostels for school going female children.

The Order of the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic congregation of women founded by Blessed Mother Teresa in 1950, dedicated to the poor, particularly to the destitute of India. Their mission is to care for (in Mother Teresa's words) "the hungry, the naked, the homeless, the crippled, the blind, the lepers, all those people who feel unwanted, unloved, uncared for throughout society, people that have become a burden to the society and are shunned by everyone." They pitched their tent in the island in the year 1991. They are taking care of the aged, un-wedded mothers and orphan children. They assist in the Parish ministry as well.

The origin of the Congregation of Sisters of St. Anne – Chennai was a simple and humble event. Thatipathri Gnanamma, a simple woman with her realistic and rustic wisdom founded the Congregation in 1874. Women’s emancipation from ignorance and total dependence was a social issue their foundress addressed in her time. Their main apostolate is education and evangelization.
The advent of the third millennium brought the sisters of St. Anne, Chennai into the Diocese of Port Blair. Their prime ministry is the Socio-Pastoral ministries. They also run the diocesan 'Working Women Hostel'.
The Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk were established by Fr. John Lambertz in Tildonk in Belgium in 1818. They strive to make God known and loved; make a difference in society through the witness of their lives profoundly rooted in God; a life of simplicity, harmony, mutuality and hospitality. They dedicated themselves to helping the poor, visiting the sick and instructing young women in family values. Ursuline Sisters of Tiltonk opened their convent in the islands in the year 1990. They are mainly into Pastoral, Social and Medical ministry. They are also into the teaching ministry in the Diocesan school.
